About Me
Hi! I'm Kimberly Rock, the Registered Psychologist with KR Therapeutic Services. Welcome to my webpage! Let me start out by saying I am not what people think of when they picture a psychologist. It’s highly likely I will greet you at the door wearing slippers (winter) or flip flops (summer) – because let’s be honest – comfort is key! I’m very casual, down to earth, and believe that the therapeutic relationship should be one where the client (you!) truly feels they have been both seen and heard. However, I also believe that our time together must be purposeful where we have clearly outlined what your goals are in relation to seeking services and determining how I can best support you in achieving these goals using evidence-based practice.
Psychological Counselling
In my opinion, there is no one size fits all approach to therapy as each client brings a unique blend of life experiences, genetics, and preferences. When taken together, these factors will heavily inform what therapeutic tools and techniques will best help you achieve your goals. To assist you in this process, I utilize a variety of therapeutic frameworks to inform the counselling process based on the individual needs of my client.
Equine Assisted EMDR
To my knowledge, I am the only Registered Psychologist in Saskatchewan who has been trained in the Equi-lateral protocol and am qualified to offer Equine-Assisted Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EA-EMDR) to clients. EA-EMDR is a form of trauma treatment that combines two powerful approaches to help clients heal reach their therapeutic goals. EMDR is a well-established form of psychotherapy that uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help process distressing memories, emotions, and bodily sensations. Equine-assisted therapy involves working with horses to help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their emotions, and their body language.
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a way to train your brain using real-time monitoring of brain activity to help people learn how to regulate their brain function. During a neurofeedback session, electrodes are placed on the scalp to measure brainwaves and this information is then displayed on a computer screen. Through either visual, auditory, or tactile feedback, you learn how to change your brainwaves in response to different thoughts, emotions, or behaviors.
Deep Brain Reorienting
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a modality of trauma psychotherapy that aims to process traumatic experience(s) by tracking the original sequence of physiological responses that occurred when an individual was exposed to shock or attachment trauma. DBR aims to access and treat these physiological responses which originate in the deeper levels of the brain, the brain stem. This is completed in a non-invasive manner by tracking, noticing, and releasing tension felt in the head, neck, and face.
